Matthew has specialised in family and criminal law since his admission as a solicitor.
Having relocated to Newcastle and joining Turnbull Hill Lawyers in January 2011 he assists family law clients to resolve matters in their best interests at the earliest possible opportunity. Matthew explains the law in an individual way tailored to each client’s needs while demonstrating genuine care and compassion in this difficult time.
Matthew will pursue where appropriate alternative dispute resolution methods, including negotiation and mediation, to resolve matters in a client-focused and cost effective manner.
As part of Turnbull Hill Lawyers, Matthew provides practical and effective family law advice to clients in all matters including property settlements, parenting matters, applications for divorce, annulment applications, child support, contravention, recovery and relocation proceedings.
The majority of family law matters will be resolved by consent through negotiation and/or mediation and will not require the commencement of court proceedings, however in all matters Matthew will advise clients on how to best resolve matters in the client and their children's best interests.
Since 2007 Matthew has also practised as a criminal lawyer. He has been a lecturer at the Traffic Offenders Programme and represents clients in both indictable and summary criminal proceedings. Matthew represents clients in complex trial work including large drug supply matters, break and enter matters, serious violence offences and sexual assaults.
Matthew also regularly appears in the Local Court for all matters including licensing appeals, traffic offences, drug and violence related matters and has many years of experience in AVO's representing both Applicants and Defendants before the court.
Matthew has the court room experience to help clients achieve the best result possible. Whether it is in family law or criminal matters he appears in Courts throughout Australia and appears in the Newcastle, Central Coast and Hunter Courts each week.
