Zara’s House fundraiser

Last week we had the pleasure of supporting a fantastic Hunter region non-profit, Zara’s House, with a fundraiser held at Cooks Hill Galleries.

Zara’s House are dedicated to helping refugee women and children across the Hunter region with language and literacy programs, as well as connecting families to any other resources they might need.

The volunteers at Zara’s House have created a warm and welcoming community for women and children coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.

With the generous support of local businesses and individuals we managed to raise well over $12,000 and counting, to help fund the pre-school bilingual program.

Properly funding the children’s language program allows their mothers to attend the volunteer run mother language and English programs more easily at Zara’s House.

Learning to read and write their mother language is incredibly important for these women, as it can make learning to read, write and speak English much harder without that foundation.
